If you wonder when did Grand Theft Auto 5 come out, the answer is on September 17th, 2013. Rockstar, the developer of GTA 5, first released the game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
At that time, gamers thought Grand Theft Auto V would be the last AAA game they bought for PS3 and Xbox 360. Some even wondered why Rockstar did not wait for the launch of the next-generation consoles: PlayStation 4 from Sony and Xbox One from Microsoft.
Rockstar actually planned to release the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto 5. Here are upgrades that Rockstar made for the remastered version of GTA 5.
Rockstar Upped the Graphics
The next-generation consoles, such as PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, have more power compared to their predecessors. And while GTA 5 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 had quite nice graphics, Rockstar improved the graphics for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. One of the upgrades Rockstar made was the remastered version had three times number of light sources compared to the original version. It also put some new feature such as a dynamically adaptive depth of field. It even increased particle effects quality along with the number of particle effects. Basically, all these upgrades mean the remastered version has better graphics.
If you have powerful enough PC to play Grand Theft Auto V, you are in for a treat. While PS4 and Xbox One gamers have to be satisfied to play the game in 1080p and 30fps, PC players get to play it in 4K resolution.
Upgrades of GTA Online
Rockstar also made some upgrades for GTA Online. Rockstar increased the number of players for GTA Online. It also put new character creator that has better visual and easier to use. Another upgrade Rockstar made is that players now can choose to lock a job to either third-person mode or the first-person mode.
GTA Online also supports cross-platform save. It means that if you were already playing the game on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, then you can continue your game on another platform, such as PlayStation 4, Xbox One or even PC.
Rockstar also rewarded people who pre-ordered the game. Those people would get one million dollars in careers mode.
Rockstar added First-Person Mode
Last but not least, Rockstar also put a new mode for the remastered version. Now, you can play the first-person mode. Good news is that Rockstar created this mode seriously. It even put its own resources.
If you wonder when did Grand Theft Auto 5 come out, the answer is in 2013, but some people were willing to wait until 2015 to play the game on PC.
